Series 2: Lesson 6 Challenge
In Novelist, I did a search for bestseller The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and then searched the appeal factors.

Series 2: Lesson 3 Challenge
I tried to think up a sample flyer for a sample event, but I had writer's block, so I thought I'd document some of the work I've done related to marketing.
This image is from a Library Proposed Budget presentation by Library Director Ramiro Salazar.
The photo is one that I took, and the presentation used another of my photos.
I've had photos in other library materials, and I have provided video that aired on KLRN and KABB as part of SAPL-related programming.
The KLRN program Conversations used a short timelapse video of the exterior of Central Library in its program and in the promotions leading up to the original broadcast:
The video I shot is the nighttime exterior shot 15 seconds into the program.
The credit for the shot is 29:40 into the program.

Series 2: Lesson 8 Challenge
Situation 1
You are having a virtual meeting with a colleague at a nearby branch; discussing a potential collaborative program between the two branches.
The benefits for an online meeting include reducing travel times, and allowing more productive hours per person. Challenges would include technical issues, both in setup and in meeting quality. I’ve been in some Skype meetings where time was lost in the setup, where persons had to repeat themselves because of low quality signal, and where meetings were cut off because of technical issues. In these cases, meeting quality dropped for the sake of saving time.
Situation 2
You are conducting a virtual reference interview with a patron; this is your first time meeting this patron, so you have no background information about their interests or likes.
Unlike Amazon ads, I do not see the virtual reference interview being in the near future in my job description and with the patrons questions I field. The amount of limitations, both legal and technical, that we have on phone reference make me think this will not happen in the next year.
I am not opposed to the idea, and I would gladly brainstorm if I could be of help.

Series 2: Lesson 10 Challenge
Central to the nearest McDonald's is easy to get to by bus, easy to explain, and easy to map.
Bonus:
Here are two maps I'd set up in the past:
San Pedro to Landa (a FAQ)
http://bit.ly/sHm3N8
Community Family and Resource Centers
I set this up in 2008 and emailed to DSAs at several branches because classes from the COSA's Department of Community Initiatives (DCI) was an FAQ. At the time, there was not an online COSA map showing the Community Family and Resource Centers, so I also shared it with DCI.

Learning Express Library seems to be very thorough.
That's good --and possibly bad. It is a very important resource and I hope it is well-utilized... but my first thoughts after looking at the Basic Math and Writing tutorials, I get the impression that some patrons might be intimidated by the level. While the introductory level might be good for some patrons, the Math launches into a details discussion that might leave some patrons behind.

Lesson 11: Wrap Up
- Describe your learning experience in one word or in one sentence. We may use your words to promote 11.5 Cosas learning activities to others.
I think I have finally completed the 11.5 Cosas.
Lesson 10 Challenge
Write a paragraph about one local and one state or federal government website you explored. How do you think mobile technology will change people’s relationship to government access and services? Will having government services and elected officials “on the go” make us more (or less) democratic as a society?
Texas.gov has a graphically inviting website and easy-to-read divisions of the most popular services. One drawback: It does not open pages from other sites in a new window when clicking many links. Mobile technology improves access to government services for many people, but there is still a percentage of persons not using smartphones who are disenfranchised. California Lt Governor Gavin Newsom discusses how technology can democratize society in the book Citizenville. This is a good topic that merits more research.

Lesson 8 Part 2 Challenge
Find an eAudiobook from each collection: OverDrive and OneClick digital. Record the titles in your blog then write about which platform you found to be the easiest to search.
Browsing for a historical fiction, Lemony Snicket books, and humor the options for searching are usually better in Overdrive, as far as graphic user interface is concerned.
OneClickDigital has a Subject Fail in "Graphic Novels and Comics." Their three titles were Timmy Failure books ... offered only in audio format.

organizations ignore copyright. I've seen many social media posts where someone has uploaded creative works of other persons without proper artistic credit.

Lesson 6 Part 1 Challenge
Assignment:
After reading it, go to your blog and describe how social networking has made an impact on your life.
After reading it, go to your blog and describe how social networking has made an impact on your life.
Did you reconnect with friends from the good old days? Did you meet someone online, were you able to get a job through social networking?
Description:
Without checking statistics, but just going from a guestimate, Social networking results to seem to indicate many persons that I know reconnecting and fewer Spam and Phishing messages when compared to sharing my emails usernames.
Social Networking does have features that act as reminders to send a message to friends, which is sometimes more useful than using email account's address book or checking past Inbox and Outbox messages.
I have sometimes described social networking sites to persons as email with bells and whistles, such as photos and public posting options.
I have not had any financial gain through social networking.

Lesson 5 Challenge
Lesson 5 Challenge
I know the site designer meant well, but I can't say that I found the 21cif.com challenge as an effective one. For the "Buffalo" challenge, the site claims that "buffalo" is an ineffective keyword but does not provide any evidence. I do agree with this claim.
The lesson does remind me of the polite British woman who entered "Please" in her queries. The idea is there, but for me, 21cif.com did not meaningfully compare and contrast results from effective and ineffective searches.

Lesson 3 Part 2 Challenge
The LibGuides for the public are a way to use curated
information from fellow SAPL coworkers to more quickly and efficiently answer
questions. These guides handle FAQs that other SAPL staff have taken the time
to research. By having these FAQs handy, it cuts down on the time staff would
use to answer FAQs.
The Millennium LibGuide has information when staff need to
use functions such as Create Lists or Weed, or tips for Holding editors. The
Circulation LibGuide has Customer Service scripts and circulation policies, as
well as how to use TexShare and ILL.

The Challenge prompt was to write a story. I had writer's block and am submitting some search results for a couple topics, and documenting a few results with different search terms. In order to improve customer service, it is useful to practice searches.
